Move from agitated to energized, from flat to engaged. A practice for therapists and their clients (and anyone!)

My invitation to you is to try this with me! Then practice doing it for yourself. Then introduce it to clients.

In this short guided video, I offer a simple movement sequence that you can use for yourself as a therapist (or anyone!) and with your clients. It’s a very effective way to regulate the nervous system, whether someone needs to calm an agitated state or increase energy.

If you’re a therapist who is newer to somatic work, I encourage you to try this out for yourself until you are comfortable with it and have a sense of how you might use it with your clients. And if you’re interested in getting support for developing this kind of work, I’d be happy to explore options with you.

This movement sequence draws from the Brain Dance, which has been used by dancers, occupational therapists, dance/movement therapists, and increasingly other somatic therapists. I’m planning to offer more support about this resource and how to use it in therapy practice.

Schedule 5-10 minutes or more to listen to watch the video or listen to the audio and then as much time as you’d like to explore what comes up for you. Then please share about your experience, your reflections and your questions!
